Why do we let minor mishaps ruin our whole day?
We’ve all been there. Sprinting for the platform just as the train doors shut. Stuck in traffic morning commute, making us late for work. Dropping a glass of water all over the kitchen floor. In the moment, it feels like an absolute nightmare. But if we zoom out, we’re looking at minor inconveniences – small blips on the radar of a human life. So why do we allow these small things to ruin our entire day? Why does a late meeting or a smashed glass trigger such a visceral response? It usually isn’t about the event itself, it’s about what…
The Myth of the “Healer”
We are all healers, but healing is an internal job. It’s a solo journey, taken in the company of others, or with a particular guide. I share these personal observations as someone who has navigated spiritual and healing communities, as someone who has to confront my own spiritual ego, shadows and reflections. It is something I regularly check in with, because the ego has a clever way of adapting. For context, the role of the ego or “lower” personality is to protect our sense of “I”. And it does this exceptionally well, what with years and years of human evolution.…
Indian Head Massage vs. Reiki: Why Choose One When You Can Have Both?
Why settle for just physical relief or just energetic healing? My Reiki and Indian Head Fusion Treatments seems to be my most popular offering so far this year! This treatment is something I was really excited to offer, and one of the reasons I did my training in Indian Head Massage (IHM). I really believe that the benefits of Reiki can be greatly enhanced when delivered following a massage treatment, especially IHM. Reiki is a Japanese system of energy healing, and Usui Reiki was founded in 1922 by Mikao Usui Sensei. The “Holy Fire” element that I specialise in, was…
Reiki and Burnout
Burnout is a state of chronic physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. In 2019, the World Health Organisation officially recognised burnout as a psychological syndrome resulting from chronic stress. It can include tension headaches, insomnia, muscle tension, lowered immunity, changes to appetite, feelings of being cut off or disconnected from others, severe exhaustion and hopelessness. It is common to mistake stress for burnout, and vice versa, so it’s important to be aware of the differences between the two. If you are stressed: you may experience over-engagement in work – you may micromanage or tend not to feel comfortable accepting help or…
What to do after receiving a Reiki treatment
Everyone experiences a Reiki treatment differently. You will also have a different experience each time you have a Reiki treatment. To help you make the most out of it, to really integrate the experience and the healing you undertake, it is important to follow some simple self care steps after the treatment. Here are a list of some suggestions which I find to be the most effective. These are just suggestions, and not an exhaustive list that you need to follow step by step. Try one or some of them, and find what works best for you… Hydrate – Reiki…
Reiki Vs. Therapeutic Touch
I am often asked what the difference is between Reiki and other biofield energy healing methods like Therapeutic Touch. Both therapies involve a gentle approach using hands, and the balancing of the recipients energy field, but the origin and techniques used are different. Reiki is a Japanese healing practice, and Usui Reiki was founded in 1922 by Mikao Usui. This method works with “Reiki” which means “Universal Energy”, and involves gentle touch, hovering hands or beaming energy to the recipient. The practitioner is given Reiki symbols (called attunements/ignitions) during specialised training. These symbols are energetic blueprints which are stored in…
Allowing imperfection
Imperfections – our human flaws, our mistakes, our wounds – are not barriers, but openings. Entry points. Portals. The “cracks” represent the vulnerable places within us, a natural part of the human condition, where the façade of perfection breaks down. These moments of vulnerability are not obstacles to our growth, but essential parts of the process. In the Japanese art of kintsugi, broken pottery is repaired with gold, highlighting rather than hiding the breakage, representing strength and radiance. In a similar sense, light enters through what is broken. Let us shift our perspective to pain, discomfort, and see it not…
A healer is not someone who heals you
Human bodies have the ability to heal themselves in a state of safety and security. This is reflected in both modern neuroscience (for example, the parasympathetic ‘rest-and-digest’ state) and ancient wisdom traditions. When the nervous system feels safe, the body naturally shifts from protection to restoration. Safety = Parasympathetic activation = Healing state Trauma, stress, or threat lock us into ‘fight/flight/freeze’ – where healing is delayed or blocked A healer is someone who holds this space for you. The healer creates coherence through presence, stillness, and deep listening. She holds non-judgmental, accepting, loving awareness; and offers energetic regulation, helping your…
Honouring Nuthatch
As I sat down in my chair facing the garden with the intention of re-branding my business and designing a new webpage. My hands had barely touched the keys, when I heard a dull thud and saw a flash of colour. I got up and walked to the back door. A Nuthatch was fallen there, stuck between the metal bars of the stairs. I gently opened the door and bent down to pick him up. He barely moved, his mouth open, breathing heavily. I picked him up, so gently, closing his wings into the sides of his body and held…

Distant Reiki for winter blues and the shadow side of Christmas
Winter is a time of rest. Of healing. Of letting go of the cycle just gone. For connecting in with your deeper self, tapping in to your infinite creative potential, ready to manifest new in the cycle to come. For ice skating and winter walks in the snow. For cosy snuggles by the fire. But I also want to acknowledge that this time of year is a huge challenge for so many of us. The dark evenings can bring anxiety, feelings of unease, a deep uncertainty. Low mood. Christmas is a time for connecting with loved ones. For family gatherings,…
A Soul Plan Reading for when you’re feeling stuck
What is a Soul Plan Reading? An extremely powerful and accurate system of life purpose guidance – a tool to realign you with your soul purpose for this lifetime. How does this system work? The Soul Plan system is derived from the Sefer Yetzirah – the oldest known Hebrew book on white magic and cosmology, also known as the Book of Creation. It uses the frequency, vibration and energy of your birth name to give a detailed overview of your current life here on Earth. You will benefit from a reading if… What happens in a full Soul Plan Reading?…
What is Theosophy?
I use the Theosophical teachings as a guide, a structured way to help me to navigate the complex nature of the higher realms. It also gives me an explanation for some of the experiences I have had and continue to have on my healing journey. Divine wisdom The word ‘Theosophy’ comes from the Greek word ‘theosophia’ – ‘theos’ which means ‘gods’ or ‘divine’, and ‘sophia’ which means ‘wisdom’. It can therefore be translated to ‘divine wisdom’. This word was first used in writing during the 3rd-6th century (of this era) by Alexandrian Neo-Platonic philosophers and they used this term to…
What are chakras?
Chakras play a key role in Reiki and other forms of energy healing. Becoming aware of them, identifying any imbalances or ‘blocks’ and learning how to balance them can form an important part of your personal healing journey. In this post, we explore each of the seven main chakras: what you may experience if a chakra is out of balance or ‘blocked’, what it means when a chakra is in balance, location along the spine, associated element, colour, mantra*, yantra**, crystals, and essential oils. *a mantra is a word or phrase that you can repeat during meditation to help balance…
How do crystals help you heal?
Since a young age, I have always had a fascination with crystals, and I think it’s safe to say it has turned into something of an obsession now that I’m in my late 20s. My favourite stone is a gorgeous piece of raw, red Jasper that I found on the beach when on holiday in Saint Lucia, a few years back, at a time in my life where my anxiety was at its worst. For a long time, I thought it was just a cool rock, but there was something about it that really made it stand out from the…
How to breathe
Many of my clients ask me what to do during a Reiki session, especially during distant healing sessions. A great place to start when you first lie down for your session, is to try to relax and focus on your breath. Brush away any thoughts that may come up about your day or things you have to do. This may be easier said than done, but breathing can be an excellent tool in helping you to quiet your mind. You may find that after a few minutes, you fall asleep, or you may find certain emotions surface, past memories arise,…
How to smudge your space
What is smudging? Smudging is an ancient ritual in which sacred herbs are burned for cleansing and healing purposes. Many herbs can be used, but dried White Sage appears to be the most common. The smoke produced by burning the herbs is said to attached itself to any negative energy, which is then carried away with the smoke. That’s why it’s always useful to have a door or window open to the outside during your rituals. After a ritual, you return the ashes to the Earth and if you want to, you can thank the herbs and any beings that…
